WES MCCARVILLE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS LEAD IN 2ND QUARTER
The Wes McCarville for Florida House of Representatives Campaign announced
today, that campaign contributions for the Second Quarter of 2008 outpaced that
of opponent Ralph Poppell. McCarville’s supporters donated $6,500 to his
campaign efforts compared to $4,500 for Poppell. “I am very proud of the support
I have received from people throughout District 29 who are interested in a
change in leadership that will allow their voice to be heard in Tallahassee. I
have listened to the concerns of many area residents who are facing difficult
economic times. I am running for this office in order to help lead a bipartisan
coalition of legislators that will promote our economy and help our families to
succeed” said McCarville.
The news came soon after Wes McCarville’s participation in a candidate forum on
July 15, in which he outlined his policy differences with the incumbent, Ralph
Poppell. McCarville stressed his strong support for education and other
essential government services and his commitment to helping the region face the
difficult economic times ahead. McCarville criticized Poppell’s support of
drilling off the Coast of Florida, saying that he believes it is vital to the
State’s tourism industry that we protect our beaches and wildlife.
The McCarville Campaign has built a grass-roots network of supporters throughout
the District that are seeking better representation and leadership in
Tallahassee. In a little over a month, campaign volunteers collected 1,000
signatures, 100 more than need to qualify for the ballot. Now the campaign has
received more campaign contributions in the 2nd quarter than the incumbent, who
has held the office since 2002. “I think you are starting to see a real movement
of people who want change and who want a candidate that is going to fight hard
for economic prosperity for our working families” said campaign spokesperson
Beth McMillen.
